“There is within each one of us a potential for goodness beyond our imagining; for giving which seeks no reward; for listening without judgment; for loving unconditionally.”

“Your body is not who you are. I don’t think women should label themselves based on the way they look. What about defining yourself by a different kind of measurement? What about your heart, your soul, your compassion, your generosity, your strength and your power? There are so many other things to focus on besides your waistline.”

– Mariska Hargitay

12.7 million people are physically abused, raped or stalked by their partners in one year. That’s 24 people EVERY minute. As if that isn’t bad enough, there is a backlog of hundreds of thousands of rape kits across the country. Evidence from an extremely invasive and traumatizing examination that is not being tested. Without this there is no justice, and therefore no room to heal. I feel that it is necessary to share the statistics because with that I hope you will be able to visualize the amount of people suffering with abuse, or the repercussions of it, every day. There are survivors all over the world who have been branded with labels, and shamed into silence. #ItsOnUs to first of all acknowledge that this violence is happening. These survivors aren’t just portrayed through TV and film. They are people you pass in the grocery store, they are educators, and people you pass in the hallways at school. #ItsOnUs to stop this vicious cycle and to be a force working to end the violence, the pain, the silence, the victim blaming, the questions and accusations. “Why doesn’t she leave?”, “she was drunk”, “boys will be boys”, “she was asking for it”. These are burdens survivors should not be carrying on top of the abuse. THAT is on us. I cannot stress how important it is to educate ourselves and each other on how to offer support to survivors so they can focus only on their healing and wellness. This goal IS possible, but we have such a long road ahead and we need your help. Together we can end domestic violence and sexual assault. #NoMore #EndTheBacklog

“You are enough.
You are enough.
You are enough.
No matter what
anyone else says,
you are enough.
You were always enough.
There will never be a time
that you aren’t enough
just as you are.
You are more than enough,
forever & always.”

“A healed life is always a work in progress, not a life devoid of all traces of suffering, but a life lived fully, deeply, and authentically.”
